Theory of Learning: Confusion

There probably exist many heuristics for human learning and skill acquisition. And perhaps a huge chunk of them will be obvious to the readers.

This one is about how confusion is a good sign. It’s a necessary part of learning, and if you’re feeling it while learning something new it probably indicates that your brain is giving you a signal to try to fill in the gaps.

Often we tend to run away from confusion, or take it as a sign that whatever we are doing is not working. But perhaps, this feeling should be celebrated. Confusion indicates you’re out of your comfort zone and need to look for answers.

That might be the best time to pen down the exact precise questions that are bothering you, maybe a list of questions, really drill down on them making them precise, and then set out to searching for their answers.

TL;DR: do not run away from confusion!
